Grant for Substitute Consent

An Bord Pleanála has granted Substitute Consent under Section 177K of the Planning and Development Acts, 2000 (as amended) for the existing quarry at Rossmore, Carrigtohill, Co Cork in accordance with the planning application submitted on behalf of Lagan Bitumen Limited.  This included a comprehensive Planning Assessment accompanied by a Remedial Natura Impact Statement (NIS) and updates to key aspects of the environment considered in the original Environmental Impact Statement (EIS), including Hydrology/Hydrogeology, Air Quality and Noise & Vibration.  Collectively, those update assessments demonstrated that the development has not and will not have significant effects on the environment, nor the adjoining Natura 2000 sites.  There are no onerous conditions attached to the permission, which fully regularises planning on the site.

Grant for Permission

An Bord Pleanála also granted full permission for Further Development at Rossmore Quarry under Section 37L of the Planning and Development Acts, 2000 (as amended).  The Grant includes planning permission for quarrying of a 20-metre bench (to a depth of -20 metres below the water table) over the full 7.6 hectare site, with infiltration of abstracted groundwater to a purpose-built settlement and infiltration pond system on an adjoining site.  There are no onerous conditions attached to the permission and development is expected to commence soon.
